The purpose of Business Intelligence (BI) is to provide you an excellent basis to come to data-driven business decisions. As such, data is collected, cleansed, processed and analyzed from your BI system.
I see RPA (Robotic Process Automation) as a perfect tool to feed process data into BI, as well as BI being a source to detail down process casuistic and to provide predefined data sets for automated business decisions.
If not already in the analysis phase – when preparing processes for RPA – Process SMEs and Team Leaders get many insights about their processes with regards to the data being processed. Latest – when processes are already running in an automated fashion – the process SMEs now having time to review process data at scale, start to see patterns and will come across new KPIs.
Thus, RPA will provide your company better (error-free) data in a shorter time being the fuel for your BI system. More and accurate process data will enable your BI system to drive more complex decisions allowing for more automated decisions.
As an example: You might process loan applications on a 24×7 basis fully automated, and based on your BI-driven result, send automatically a rejection or an acceptance letter including the triggering of further actions.
In a nutshell: RPA should be considered in improving your BI capabilities, as you will unleash the power of both – as a result of RPA, you will get much more process data being error-free and structured data being the fuel for your BI system driving more complex decisions, which might be simple additions to an already established process casuistic. In a nutshell, I encourage you to enrich your view on BI to embrace RPA, as of to unleash the tremendous symbiosis potential of BI and RPA.
